(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Emerald (World of Samar) (Kindle Edition)Overall Feedback: This is an awesome read. That just about sums up the book there but wait I have more. The author exceeds in drawing you into their world and holding on til the last incredible page.
Point of View: Be the hero and save your world.
Voice: Once again Hamilton exceeds expectations.
Character Development: You will find yourself sweating out each fight right along side or hero.
Plot: Action packed with intrigue at every page.
Dialogue: Added depth to the characters and drove the story home.
Pacing: Seemed like non stop and fast paced page turning action.
Setting: Pushing you to the edge of your imagination and begs for more.
Continuity: Simply perfect.

Hampton Reviews of Emerald
5 Stars – a fantastic story about the battle between good and evil.
It isn’t very often that a book grabs me so much that events in the story bring tears to my eyes. Emerald is one of those rare (forgive the pun) gems that has captured my heart.
I absolutely Love this story. The characters are well developed – endearing and interesting. The scenes are vividly described and filled with depth and emotion.
My favorite characters in Emerald have to be Kai and Cy. These two men go through more in this story than I could even imagine, and throughout their trials they each grow stronger and show their depth of character.
I also loves Marri, her story is a small part of this volume but it is a great beginning to a love story that makes me smile.
I would recommend Emerald to anyone who enjoys epic tales of good versus evil. I will confess that at almost 600 pages Emerald is a long story, but it is well paced and keeps the readers attention throughout the entire length.
I would warn you this, keep a box of tissues handy as you progress toward the end of the book. IT will tug at your heartstrings.
I am definitely looking forward to the second book in the series – Eldon’s Heir.

The Heirs of Eldon Review
This is the sequel to Emerald, and follows the twin brothers Tav and Tash as they leave their home as fugitives, fleeing oppression and persecution, to find freedom and acceptance out in the world.
As with all good fantasy books, this encompasses races of people with strange tongues and ethnicity. Some will inspire and some will repulse, and that is how it should be.
I found the book steadily picks up pace, the action is impressive, the life threatening drama and twists do not disappoint, and by the end you will find yourself holding your breath.
I am always impressed when an author can offer up a huge cast in a book, and give character development and relationship time to each character.
In this epic series by Hamilton, you will cry, adrenaline will surge, your insides will clench, and you will long to get to the chapter when you can simply breathe without tension. It reaches a summit where you simply cannot put it down, or read fast enough.
In a land of enchanting races, enigmatic and charming kings, where fate forces their hand back to the battlefield - saturating the land in blood, sorrow, right to the insides of the Mt Askar Volcano where the evil Erram lives - only Tav and Tash have what he wants, they're both wounded and unprepared to meet the man who murdered their father.
There's a lot I'm not saying here, to say it would ruin the twists, and I'm not into writing spoilers in my reviews...
But I'll say this much: This is an epic fantasy which sweeps you up in an emotional tide, riveting, delivering action, betrayal, battles and sabotaging pride. You can relate to each character even though their world is alien to you. It is a spellbinding read, transporting you to another time and place, with your heart pounding, afraid to blink, desperate to reach the climax of this story which builds consistently to the point where, as a reader - you simply won't be able to handle the tension.
Unequivocally five out of five stars.

“The scope, the size of Emerald is impressive, but not overbearing. Emerald is one book that doesn't follow the often over used fantasy stereotype, which is a good thing, and leads to a very good read.” Check out the rest of this review on the link above.

EGHS English Teacher Now a Published Author! 05/07/2010
ML Hamilton has been teaching high school English and journalism in Central California for the last 17 years. She has been writing fantasy since high school, but realized that bringing her novel to fruition might take some time. She chose the next best thing: sharing her love of literature with her students.
Emerald is her first novel, but she has written five other books in the World of Samar series. She also has a contemporary fiction manuscript, entitled Ravensong, which made it to the second round of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Contest in 2009.

A book she started writing while attending Terra Nova High School, "Emerald," an epic fantasy by M.L. Hamilton, was recently published by Wild Wolf Publications.
M.L. Hamilton is none other than Michelle Hamilton, who lived on Fassler Avenue and in the back of the valley and graduated from Terra Nova in 1985. While at Terra Nova, she was on the swim team and wrote for the school newspaper.
She left Pacifica to attend college at UC Davis and received her teaching credential from Sacramento State. She has taught English at Elk Grove High School for the last 17 years.
She has three sons. The eldest will be returning to the Bay Area to attend college at UC Berkeley this fall.
"Emerald" has gone through many incarnations since Hamilton began it in high school and she even self-published it in 2006. Last November, it was picked up by a publishing company in the UK called Wild Wolf Publications.
The audience for "Emerald" is between high school and adult and it is an epic fantasy. She has written five other novels in this series and hope to see them in print one day.
Here is a synopsis of "Emerald" from the author.
In one terrible instant, Kai is thrown from his comfortable life and plunged into a conflict that began before he was born. Worse yet, he learns that the one man who can help him is his enemy.
Kiameron is the crown prince of DiNolfol. He is torn between two destinies — taking the crown upon his father's
death or answering the call of his non-human-like traits, traits associated with the mysterious Stravad.
The decision is made with the destruction of everything he holds dear. Armed with his strange powers and a mysterious talisman he doesn't know how to use, Kai decides to attack Gava, the despot who destroyed his life.
Crippled by self-doubt and fear, he falters in his quest, until he meets a man who forces him to take action. However, his new ally is hiding secrets, secrets that will rob Kai of everything he held sacred.
