Waiting for an UpdateIn what has become unpredictable predictability, April has melded into May with storms battering us every
few days. The sun comes out and everything warms up, then it clouds over again and we get another reminder that winter is
not finished with us. Last weekend, I got badly sunburned at my youngest son’s baseball game, but tonight, I shivered
in my winter coat, wishing for the last out to be made. Equally unpredictable has
been the launch of Emerald. While the book is available on-line in the United Kingdom, it is not so for the U.S.
A few bookstores are offering it for sale on Amazon, but none of the large chains have access to it yet. This lack of accessibility
has made marketing very difficult. I can’t get anyone to commit to a book signing, nor can I get much traction with
the media outlets. And truthfully, who could blame them? Without the book more readily available, they aren’t willing
to take a chance on a new writer. Hopefully things will be fixed any day now. In an age
of technology, it is frustrating to think we are so limited by our own inventions. Shouldn’t updating the databases
in the U.S. be no more complicated than pressing enter? Apparently there’s a great deal more to it than I understand. Here’s hoping the sun returns and with it a bit of good news. Only one month until graduation and summer
vacation, and I must say I’m ready.
